“I had been working as a sole trader prior to that but decided to take the plunge and form a company,” he said.
“I always had visions of reaching various milestones as I have always been meticulous in my work, and a lot has certainly happened for the company, particularly in the past 12 months.”
The most recent thing to happen for Sydney Electrical Contractors was picking up a Certificate of Commendation at the recent NECA 2018 Excellence Awards in the category of Small Contracting Business.
Recognition from NECA (National Electrical and Communications Association) is extremely prestigious.
“Just to be nominated was wonderful,” Mr Theodoridis said. “We certainly didn’t expect to win – just to be narrowed down from the 1000 or so entrants to be named a finalist blew me away.
“And collecting that award in front of 1000 at Star Casino was mind-blowing.”
The project for which the company took the award was the for work completed at 24/7 Fitness at Westpoint, Blacktown.
“I think the judges were impressed that we were able to reduce running costs for the owner and also set it up so he can run the gym remotely from anywhere in the world,” Mr Theodoridis said.
Client relations
With almost 15 years’ experience in the electrical and communications industry prior to establishing the company, Mr Theodoridis now has two other electricians on staff as well as a client relations and quality manager, a marketing executive, and an SEO specialist.
The small team has grown through hard work, dedication and perseverance, achieving several milestones in recent years.
These include completing specialised training and obtaining a level 2 electrical licence which enables Sydney Electrical Contractors to work on electricity networks owned by Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy (categories 2A, 2B, 2C & 2D).
“We have also gained ISO Accreditation for Quality, Environmental, OH&S Management Systems which shows our commitment to professionalism and providing the best quality work to our clients and businesses right across Sydney,” Mr Theodoridis said.
