SKYSCRAPER OVER WESTFIELD

New plans show a much larger tower
PARRAMATTA'S dramatically changing skyline will be further enhanced by a 42-storey skyscraper to be built above the Westfield Shopping Centre.

Located at the corner of Church and Argyle Streets, the $500m project’s revised plan was recently released by the centre’s owners Scentre.

The Scentre Retail Group owns and operates 39 Westfield shopping centres in Australia and New Zealand.

The retail group co-owns Westfield Parramatta with GIC and first proposed a smaller 25-storey office development above the shopping centre back in 2014.

New plans, submitted to Parramatta Council, show a much larger tower with larger floor areas spanning 3,025sqm, creating a total of 112,000sqm of office space.

The building has been designed by leading firm Woods Bagot and is aimed at the commercial office market.

Further changes were made in response concerns voiced by Council, with the main office lobby and entrance to be relocated from Church Street to Argyle Street.

The building has also been moved further to the west of the site about midway between Church and Marsden Streets.
