The proposed project will provide 705 new homes and generate almost 1000 jobs.
Mirvac’s development application has been assessed by the Department of Planning and Environment and includes four residential apartment buildings, ground floor retail, a new road and open space.
Minister for Planning and Housing, Anthony Roberts, said it is an exciting time for the Sydney Olympic Park precinct, as it continues to grow into a lively community.
“This development will see an abundance of homes, shops, cafes, restaurants and open space that will contribute to making the area a great place to live, work and play,” Mr Roberts said.
“We are committed to helping every person in New South Wales own their own home and by approving an additional 705 new homes; we are working towards providing that opportunity to first home buyers.”
The Department publicly exhibited the development application for an extended six-week period in January-March 2017 and received nine submissions from public authorities and one public submission in support of the proposal.
A further 17 public submissions were received following a modification of the proposal which included a height increase for one of the residential buildings.
“Approving such a key development at Sydney Olympic Park aligns with the NSW Government’s goal to renew and grow the supply of social, affordable and private housing in accessible locations,” Mr Roberts said.
Development works will generate more than 900 construction jobs and 54 ongoing jobs once the development is built.
