TRANING OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND

NBN enables niche online courses

IT comes as no surprise that with the roll out of the nation’s high speed broadband network enormous opportunities exist for businesses of all sizes.

The benefits of having a global presence 24/7 and “getting online” include greater flexibility, faster delivery of products and reduction in costs.

The Department of Communications provides funding to TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute (WSI) to deliver the Digital Enterprise Program to small to medium size businesses and Not-For-Profit organisations.

The program offers free seminars and individual training sessions that highlight the benefits and rewards of marketing and operating your business online.

Since the commencement of the program in October 2012, WSI has delivered 78 group training seminars with over 540 businesses in attendance.

The program also funds four hours of individual one-on-one training sessions in your workplace. The training is customised and focuses on the online requirements of your business, whether that be marketing, communicating with your customers or building a website.

The uptake of the individual training sessions has exceeded our initial expectations as more and more businesses see their business grow with online activity.

The need to have an online presence for your business is critical. John Garret, Managing Director Softcom Web Solutions, says. “I see a great need for small business owners to be educated on the huge impact the internet will have on business in the future. We need to know how it can be used to market businesses and promote products and services.

"Any business that doesn’t do this will be left behind as their competitors leap ahead of them.”
