SINGAPORE DEVELOPER WINS RETAIL DEAL

Eastern Creek retail centre
By Red Dwyer
SINGAPORE-backed developer Frasers has won another significant contract in self-funded NSW government group Western Sydney Parklands Trust – the 50,000-square-metre Eastern Creek retail centre.
The centre will be a general neighborhood retail centre and bulky goods space, built on a 15.7-hectare site on the Great Western Highway, between Rooty Hill Road South and the M7 motorway.

The NSW government said the four-stage centre to be built over five years, would inject more than $100M worth of investment into the city’s west.

“Frasers Property will seek businesses for the retail centre which are compatible with the Eastern Creek community including supermarkets, specialty shops, large format retail, bulky goods and associated retail and services,” said Frasers Property executive general manager retail, Peri Macdonald.

The construction of the new Eastern Creek retail centre, likely to begin early next year subject to approval, is expected to be open by 2018.

It will make up part of a $700M development pipeline for Frasers Australia

In 2016, Frasers won the development rights for the 21.4-hectare Horsley Drive Business Park, in Wetherill Park, also close to Eastern Creek,

Both projects are within the Western Sydney Parklands, which has 2 per cent of the site set aside for business hubs; revenue from these hubs are used to fund the rest of the parklands
