The Giants made the finals for the first time in 2016 again in 2017, last year and this season 2019.
Their original training centre and home ground was at Blacktown before moving their headquarters to the old golf driving range in 2014 at Sydney Olympic Park.
Leon Cameron who was assistant coach at the Giants in 2013 became head coach in 2014.
Cameron played with Footscray which became Western Bulldogs and he also played 64 games with Richmond in his playing career.
On the day the Giants who never stopped trying were outplayed by a slick, ruthless and highly efficient and experienced team which also won the title in 2017.
The Giants were down by 35 points at halftime.
Giants captain Phil Davis who was under and injury cloud all week, with calf and lower back injuries, praised Richmond at the post match presentation at the MCG.
Davis congratulated Richmond in a humble speech.
"First of all I congratulate the Richmond club," Davis said. "To the Giants supporters we thank you. And to the players we will be back."
Throughout western Sydney during the grand final week thousands of GWS supporters turned out at the club headquarters in their orange, white and charcoal coloured jerseys and gear, to get behind their team.
The Giants have built a strong following since their inception and now have 30,000 members.
The Giants finished the regular season sixth and won three knockout finals against the Western Bulldogs, Brisbane and Collingwood to reach their first grand final.
